Aurelia TV: Your Jellyfin Experience on the Big Screen

Aurelia TV is a dedicated Jellyfin client built specifically for Android TV and large-screen devices. It shares the underlying application logic and core functionality of Aurelia while providing a purpose-built TV interface designed around remote control, large-screen layouts, and efficient performance.

Built with TV interaction patterns in mind, Aurelia TV aims to make browsing and watching your personal Jellyfin library feel natural on the big screen.

• Live TV: Browse Live TV channels, view the Electronic Program Guide (EPG), watch live streams, and access server recordings and recording schedules where supported by Jellyfin.
• Powerful Playback: Use the available playback capabilities shared with Aurelia, including Media3 ExoPlayer and the optional MPV playback engine, with support for Direct Play, Direct Stream, server transcoding, and hardware-accelerated playback where supported.

Built for the Big Screen

Aurelia TV isn’t simply the mobile Aurelia interface stretched onto a television.

The application has its own TV-focused presentation and interaction layer, designed around the way people actually use a television: sitting back, using a remote, and navigating content from a distance.

The interface uses Jetpack Compose for TV and is built around large-screen layouts, clear focus handling, readable content, and smooth remote navigation.

The result is a lightweight TV experience that keeps the functionality of Aurelia while giving it an interface designed specifically for the big screen.

Shared Foundation

Aurelia and Aurelia TV are separate clients with different interfaces and device experiences, but they share the same underlying application logic and core functionality.

This shared foundation keeps Jellyfin integration, playback behavior, and core features consistent between the two clients, while allowing each application to be tailored to its target devices.

Aurelia TV is designed specifically for Android TV and other large-screen TV devices.

We want Jellyfin to feel fast, polished, and enjoyable on the big screen without requiring you to compromise on the flexibility of running your own server.

Rather than replacing the Jellyfin ecosystem, Aurelia TV is designed to provide a carefully crafted TV experience for the media library you already own and manage.

Current Limitations

Aurelia TV currently focuses primarily on the Jellyfin video experience.

• Music libraries are not currently supported.
• Book libraries are not currently supported.
• Photo libraries are not currently supported.

Some features may also depend on the capabilities of the connected Jellyfin server and the hardware of the Android TV device.

Aurelia TV is actively developed, and additional Jellyfin features and improvements will continue to be added in future releases.
